Black-and-white images produced in the darkroom are back in style in the fine art market, offering a dramatic option in a largely digital field. This creative workshop explores alternative processes that include the use of toy and pinhole cameras, toning, and experimentation in film processing and printing techniques, blurring, grain, toning, and photo collages. Among the several procedures explored, we emphasize the development of black-and-white prints using long-lasting and fade-resistant techniques with 35 mm, medium and large formats.
Discussion includes film choices, archival processes, creative aspects of black-and-white darkroom controls, plus presentation of contemporary fine art photography, with attention to mixed media exhibits and installation.

ABOUT ELEONORA GHIOLDI
Eleonora Ghioldi was born in Buenos Aires in 1972. From an early age she decided to learn the art of photography from the best, not only through observation but by printing the fine work of the masters. Eleonora has printed for renowned international photographers such as Helmut Newton, Donata Wenders, Graciela Iturbide, Lauren Greenfield, Andy Summers, Steve Schapiro, to name a few. She teaches several fine art classes at UCLA.
